$get vs $find javascript ajax shortcut calls

by rbellantoni 1/26/2010 11:34:00 AM

The main difference between the $get and $find calls is the attribute the use to find the server control

$find('ServerSideID'), uses the actual server side ID to find the element

$get('generatedClientID'), get uses the DOM elementID or the clientID to find the element.

Both can use an option second parameter that takes a parent ID that the function will start the search in. So if you know the container for the element you can find it much faster otherwise it default to document as the parent.
